Byron robotic team presses for a new public library
First Security Bank of Byron donated $425 to one of the Byron Intermediate School’s robotic teams participating in the First Lego League this year.
The check was used to pay for printing costs associated with the team’s project this year. The coach is Becky Gerdes.
The team had to choose a community issue in which to participate, and they chose to join the campaign to build a public library in Byron. As part of their project, they are hanging door-handle hangar surveys on homes in some Byron neighborhoods. Residents can complete the survey to voice their opinion about building a library. The surveys have a QR code printed on them that will allow the resident to upload the survey answers.
The team attended the December Byron city council meeting to present their idea to the council members. The group gave them the go-ahead to distribute the hangars.
