Veterans to be honored at Triton
Triton Elementary School invites all veterans, their families and friends to come to the Veteran’s Day program next Monday, Nov. 11.
This year’s program will begin at 9 a.m. in the Triton High School gym, said Kindergarten teacher Katie Macrafic.
Triton Boy Scouts will post the colors and the Triton High School band will perform at the beginning of the program.
Veterans will be seated on the floor of the gym and will be asked to introduce themselves and tell what branch of the service they were in and when.
Several of the fourth and fifth grade students will read poems they have written related to Veterans Day.
As they do each year, the students will present a paver for the Veterans Memorial in Dodge Center to a special Triton HERO veteran. The funds for the pavers are raised through HERO program activities at the school.
Students will sing and there will also be a slideshow of students’ family members who have or are serving in the military.
Following the program, there will be refreshments in the school cafeteria for the veterans and their family members.
The entire community is invited to attend the program and honor the veterans, Macrafic said.
