Vikings Run at Zumbrota
The Hayfield cross country team headed to Zumbrota last week for their second to last regular meet of the season.
Head Coach Kellie Baker said the cross country season is really winding down and it’s crazy how fast this season overall has gone.
“Everyone continues to improve during practice and lots of the junior high boys improved at this meet from a year ago,” she said.
Coming in first for the Vikings boy’s junior high team was Wesley Scanlan. He finished in 14th place out of 52 competitors with a two-mile time of 14:22. Braeden Hahn finished in 21st at 14:59 followed by Landon Steinfadt 16:13, Kaleb Sanvick 16:36, and Ethan Campbell 16:40.
Grace Becker and Kailyn Gustafson ran the girl’s junior varsity race with 50 athletes. Becker finished in 29:38 and Gustafson earned her best time of the season with 34:42.
In the boy’s junior varsity race, Hayfield had Dakota Robinson, Jackson Struck, Nathan Grav, and Massimo Granetto. Robinson crossed in 15th place out of 88 runners sprinting in at 20:56. Grav had 22:23, Granetto 22:54, and Struck 23:28.
In the boy’s varsity race out of the 67 runners, Cohen Heins crossed in 20:00. Next up for the Vikings was William Gillette in 20:08, Sam Tempel finished in 21:08, and his cousin with a very strong sprint in behind him was Isaiah Tempel crossing in 21:09.
