Cobras win 4 straight

After a shaky 3-6 start, the Triton softball team has won four straight games, propelling itself above .500 for the first time all season.
 “It was a great week for Cobra softball,” said Coach Laura Strandell after the third win.
After a 19-0 loss at Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Thursday, April 23, the Cobras hosted Lake City for a double-header. 
In the first game, the Cobras shut out their opponent, defeating Lake City 11-0 in five innings. Triton scored one in the first inning and exploded with eight runs in the second, adding two more in the fourth. Kayla Dostal and Mateah Lamoree both went 2-3 in the game, and Lamoree had one RBI, two runs and two stolen bases. Katie Rosenau received the win, pitching five innings with five strikeouts and giving up five hits, no runs and two walks. 
In the late game, Triton again got rolling in the second inning, scoring nine runs. They would score five more in the 14-3 victory. Ella Blaisdell went 3-4 with three runs and three stolen bases. Dostal went 1-3 with a double, two RBIs and one run.  Tatyanna Bond went 2-2 with a home run, five RBIs and two runs. Bond received the win, pitching five innings with one strikeout. She gave up four hits, three runs and two walks.  
The Cobras carried their high-powered offense to Faribault on Friday, May 1, defeating Bethlehem Academy 12-6. Rosenau went 3-4 with a double, three RBIs and one run. She also pitched seven innings, giving up 13 hits, three earned runs and a walk. Rosenau struck out five in the win. 
“We have cut back on the errors on defense, which has really helped us start winning some games,” said Strandell after the third win. “I hope to see continued improvement from the team.”
On Monday, May 4, the girls travelled to Blooming Prairie. While the offense managed only three runs, the defense held strong, allowing only two runs from the Blossoms in the 3-2 victory. The win boosted the Cobras to 7-6 overall this season. 
Triton was scheduled to play Tuesday, May 5, at Hayfield. They will also host Kenyon-Wanamingo on Thursday, May 7, at 5 p.m. and Pine Island on Friday, May 8, at 5:30 p.m. Friday’s game is scheduled to be the first ever softball game played on the turf in Triton.
