BP vs. Hayfield
Although neither won its division, the Blooming Prairie track teams picked up numerous firsts at the four-team Hayfield Invitational track meet Tuesday, April 21. The girls finished first in nine events, while the boys took seventh.
Hayfield took the team title in both divisions, outpointing the Blossoms 101-89 for the girls and finishing ahead of Bethlehem Academy and BP for the boys. The host Vikings counted 95 points for the boys, with B.A having 75 and the Blossoms 70. Lyle-Pacelli finished fourth in both divisions.
Taylor Hagen earned two firsts in the shot put and the discus and also ran a leg in the winning 4x100-meter relay. Hagen threw the shot 36-7 and tossed the discus 111-3.  The 4x100-meter relay team of Leah Schiefert, Hagen, Kylie Forystek and Laura Grant won that race in 55.36. Asia Thostenson also won two firsts, the 110-meter hurdles in 18.11 and the 300-meter hurdles in 55.98. 
The 4x800-meter relay team of Alison Pryor, Sam Wurst, Lauren Larkoski and Laura Grant timed an 11:07. 76. Pryor won the 3,200-meter run in 13:03.18, and Schiefert took the pole vault at 7-6.
Larkoski took runner-up in the high jump at 4-8 and 400-meter dash in 1:05.47. The 4x400-meter relay team (Schiefert, Wurst, Larkoski and Alanna Grant) timed 4:38.30 for second as well.  Alanna Grant placed third in the 800-meter run (2:42.85), and Marissa Larson and Leah Schiefert earned points with fifth places in the triple jump and 400-meter dash, respectively.
Senior Cole Sunde stole the show for the boys with three individual firsts, plus helping the 4x100-meter relay team (Sunde, Weston Meyer, Kevin Eischens and Anthony Nelson) to a first.  Sunde won the 100-meter dash in 11.53, the long jump with a leap of 20-9 and the triple jump with a jump of 39-10 1/4.  The relay team timed a 46.69 for that first.
Alec Ille won the 3,200-meter run in 10:05.14, which set a new school record in that event; Anthony Nelson took the 200-meter dash in 24.51, and the 4x400-meter relay team  (Angel Villarreal, Meyer, Ben Smith and Elijah Baker) also took first. Collin Wobschall placed second in the shot put with a toss of 42-2. Quentin Kubista did the same in the pole vault in a height of 9-6 and Villarreal, Jesse Schewe, Baker and Nelson ran in a time of 9:24.21 for second in the 4x800-meter relay race. 
Schewe added a 5:21.23 for third in the 1,600-meter run, and Evan Doerhoefer ran a 5:28.65 in that race for fourth. Albert Zamarripa finished fourth in the 400-meter dash, as did Wobschall in the discus with a toss of 118’3”.  Martin Morem and Doerhoefer ended the scoring for the boys with fifth places in the 400-meter and 800-meter runs.
