Head Family Benefit set for Nov. 3

On July 1 Colby Head’s family and friends woke up to the worst news ever imaginable.
After suffering from a random heart attack, Colby passed away at a hospital near his home in Wisconsin.
Soon after the tragedy Colby’s family soon realized how caring the small community of Kasson and Dodge County was.
Colby and his brothers grew up in the Kasson area and attended K-M Schools all their lives.
While Colby’s brother knew that his brother was well liked he soon began receiving different cards and well wishes
from people in the community that he didn’t even know.
“It’s crazy the amount of people who reached out to us that didn’t have to,” his brother Ryan said. “It showed a lot that they took time out of their days to do so,” he added.
After a couple of weeks of getting well wishes, Ryan and the rest of his family came up with the idea of possibly hosting a benefit in honor of Colby.
Knowing that Colby’s family, which includes his wife Krissy, and two sons Justin and Logan encountered high- unexpected medical bills, they figured that the benefit would be a great way to raise funds to help pay some of those bills.
Never planning a benefit before Ryan and his family began brainstorming
on how to go about it and also looked at examples on how other people have handled benefits before.
Eventually was able to find a location and date for the benefit.
On Nov. 3 from 3 until 10 p.m. a benefit will be hosted at the Mantorville Saloon.
Since beginning the process of planning the benefit the family has
received many silent auction/raffle items as a way to help raise more money during the benefit something the family feels very appreciative of.
While Ryan said that Colby would probably not like the attention he explained that his brother didn’t realize how much people cared about him and liked him.
“Everyone that knew my brother liked him,” Ryan said.
While Ryan and his family grew up in the community it was after the tragedy that he truly learned how great the community is.
“I learned a lot about how genuine people in the community are,” Ryan said
