K-M honors the Class of 2018

As is tradition every June, Kasson-Mantorville High School honored its latest graduating class on last Sunday afternoon. In front of a jam-packed Home Federal Arena, the KoMets graduates remembered their rise through the ranks and were given advice as they enter the world with their diplomas in hand.
K-M superintendent Mark Matuska opened by saying that this class was one that almost never turned down an opportunity as evidenced by 76 percent of the seniors being involved in at least one extracurricular activity. He also mentioned that this class has brought plenty of tremendous moments to the school ranging from state championships to incredible performances in the Minnesota Wi-Fi Performance Center.
After that, K-M Board of Education chair Kent Harfmann gave his advice to the class referring all the way back to his senior year in 1980. Harfmann, who walked into the class seated on the floor in what he called a “Fireside Talk,” said that his counselor telling him that he would only be wasting his parents money if he went to Minnesota State University, Mankato were a turning point in his life. Harfmann told the class to remember that their parents and mentors loved them and to make them proud with what they do after graduation.
From there, K-M High School Principal Trent Langemo thanked the staff of the school, introduced foreign exchange students Murad Ismayilov and Rina Takane and segwayed into the K-M concert choir and band performing “From Thou Fount of Every Blessing” by Arr. R. Standbridge under the direction of Tony Boldt.
After student addresses from graduating seniors Caitlin Irish and Markayla Kujath, the class was given their diplomas and with a toss in the air, they were named official graduates of Kasson-Mantorville High School.
