A Glimpse of Dodge County

Finally, it looks like spring may be here. I say that cautiously because we all know what kind of snow March can bring to southern Minnesota. I guess we better enjoy it while we can.
A couple of short notes.
First, this week we are continuing our series on addressing the food insecurity needs of folks in southeastern Minnesota. We’re making a stop at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Kasson and their “A Place at the Table” Wednesday community meal.
While specifically aimed at food insecure people, the meal does provide a place for everyone, including those who may be in need to get a meal. It’s a ministry of St. Peter’s but it has grown to include volunteers from other churches and community groups in the area.
And speaking of church groups, five people from Grace Lutheran in Dodge Center are on their way home after spending two weeks in Kenya helping out at a school that the church helps support. From postings by Pastor Timothy Chase on his blog they have been having a great time helping people, learning about a different culture and seeing some great African wildlife.
No doubt they will have many stories to share on their return to Dodge Center.
On a school note, the Triton FFA had its annual Steak Feed last Saturday at the American Legion in West Concord. By all accounts it was a successful evening with the students having a chance to say thank you to those who helped with their corn and bean drive last fall and residents having an opportunity for a good meal.
