‘Expansion’s coming’

Kasson will partner with a business retention and retail recruitment service and a landscape/architectural planning firm to help direct the city’s expected growth.
City Councilors on March 8 approved a 3-year agreement with Buxton Customer Analytics, Fort Worth, Texas, to fashion a retail and economic development roadmap, and entered into a contract with Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc., Minneapolis, to establish a comprehensive plan for the city.
Buxton has partnered with more than 750 municipalities across the country, several of which are similar to Kasson’s demographics and population.
Hoisington Koegler has earned many awards for its work, including rehabilitation of the Minnehaha Refectory, the Moorhead River Corridor Master Plan, and the Lanesboro Arts Campus Vision Plan.
“I think it’s interesting that the Destination Medical Center in Rochester is kind of driving our development here,” Kasson City Administrator Theresa Coleman said. “There are families that are obviously choosing Kasson as their community. So we just want to be prepared to provide them with the best quality of life that we can, as they make that decision.
