Rubin advances to state

The Kasson-Mantorville-Triton Komets competed in their first ever sectional tournament last Saturday, and there were definitely some highlights for the first-timers.
The Section 1A event was hosted by Austin High School and included 10 teams. Though the Komets placed 10 of 10, with an overall score of 121.425, the gymnasts performed well in their first section tournament.
The highlight of the morning was Cambryn Rubin, who finished third overall on the uneven bars, with a score of 8.75. Austin girls Maddie Mullenbach and Jennifer Boyle finished first and second, with scores of 9.40 and 9.35, respectively. Just below Rubin was Red Wing's Mackenzie Hughes with 8.575. Rubin's third place score was enough to propel her to state, where she will perform at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 21 .
