Mayor H. to become president of mayors group
Mayor H. Peterson will take the helm of the Minnesota Mayors Association on April 15 in White Bear Lake. He is currently first vice president.
In his mayor’s comments at the regular Blooming Prairie City Council meeting on Monday, Feb. 9, Peterson said he was a presenter at a meeting of the Association on Jan. 23 to welcome new mayors to office.
He was one of two experienced mayors who spoke to a group that included some of the 210 newly elected mayors of the stage. Minnesota has 640 mayors.
Mayor Peterson said the Association’s mission is to perform educational tasks including publication of the Mayor’s Manual.
At the Jan. 23 meeting, Peterson and Buffalo Lake Mayor Wayne Carrigan gave an overview of their duties and opened it to questions. “These newcomers are very eager to serve,” Mayor Peterson said.
Peterson is currently serving his fifth term as mayor of the southern Minnesota city of Blooming Prairie. He was re-elected last November, running unopposed.
