2016 Year In Review: K-M Wrestling dominates, record book gets re-written

Another year has come and gone and while 2016 was one of the strangest years on record, it actually treated the readership area of the DCI well. In total, there were a pair of state tournament appearances along with a state championship from the Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team. There were multiple conference championships along the way and a pair of individual athletes found their way into their respective sport’s state tournament as well.
The success took a magic marker to the school’s record book’s throughout the year and one that created many memories in the hearts of Kasson-Mantorville and Triton fans alike as we look at the big storylines.
K-M wrestling dominates on the way to state championship
When  it  comes to dominance, there was no bigger display than the Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team. The KoMets ran through with a perfect 25-0 record and set down all comers including fellow state champion Kenyon-Wanamingo in a 30-21 dual on January 21.
 
Throughout the lineup, K-M boasted one of the most dominant teams in recent memory with nine different wrestlers qualifying for the state tournament. Perhaps the craziest part about this team was that it had just three seniors on the roster and that seems to fuel what could be an even brighter year in 2017.
