NRHEG's Schultz honored

While the teams are still in the process of being finalized, we now know that Steele County will be represented by at least one high school football player for the upcoming Minnesota Football Showcase All-Star game. 
NRHEG High school football player Jack Schultz, a senior offensive guard and defensive tackle has been selected to compete against some of Minnesota's top high school players on Dec. 3 at US Bank Stadium. The 6-foot 2, 250 pound two-way star was an integral part of the Panther football team this season, helping clear paths for running back Perry Peterson to eclispe the 1,000-yard mark this season while also being on a defense that allowed just 18 points per game. 
Head coach Dan Stork noted that there isn't a more deserving player for the honor. 
"We are thrilled for Jack to be given the opportunity to play along side of Minnesota's top football players. He has worked extremely hard and has dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball all season. He is very deserving of this recognition and opportunity and he will make the most of it," he added. 
Back in October, The Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA)  announced the first Minnesota Football Showcase. In a press release, officials said that the new partnership features an entire day of celebrating football throughout the state of Minnesota.
The event will culminate in the 44th annual All-Star Football Game featuring outstanding senior football players from around the state. Tickets have been available for roughly a month and noted within the press release, officials stated that all proceeds will go directly to the MFCA and the Tackle Cancer Campaign. 
“The Vikings have long been partners with the MFCA and we are thrilled to further that partnership through the establishment of the Minnesota Football Showcase,” said Vikings Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Stadium Development Lester Bagley. “The event is an exciting opportunity for high school players, coaches and fans of football throughout Minnesota, and hosting it in U.S. Bank Stadium is a natural fit as it combines Minnesota’s best athletes with the state’s best venue.” 
Kickoff is tentatively set for 3 p.m. and will be televised on KMSP FOX 9.
