Geneva R. Lawson, 84, Rochester

Geneva R. Lawson, 84, of Rochester, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Hospital-St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester. She also lived in Wabasha and Spring Valley. 
Geneva was born March 9, 1932, in Spring Valley, to George and Pauline Miland. She married Donald Lawson on May 24, 1952, in Spring Valley. The couple had three children. Donald died December 13, 1995. Geneva was a homemaker and she worked as a cook for West Concord High School for 22 years. She moved to Wabasha to be near her daughter in 2001. She moved to Rochester in 2012 because of failing health.
Geneva was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Wabasha. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She especially loved cooking with them. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Kevin and Michele Lawson of Dodge Center, Marcia Olson of Wabasha, David and Kim Lawson of McCurtain, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; Brad, Matt and Jeff Lawson; Jeramy Lawson, Alicia Jameson and Jesse and Jerad Lawson; Kyle and Melissa Prater and Kenny Lawson; nine great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Gary Easler of Maple Grove; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and her parents, George and Pauline Miland.
A memorial service was held on Oct. 25, 2016, at Faith Lutheran Church in Wabasha, with Pastor Reginald Klindworth officiating.  Interment was held at Waltham Cemetery near Sargeant. The Abbott Funeral Home of Wabasha is in charge of arrangements.  www.abbottfh.com
