Man charged with sexual assault, strangulation
A man living in Kenyon appeared Tuesday in Dodge County District Court, where he’s been charged with multiple felonies after an alleged sexual assault.
Scott Peder Olson Jr., 39, faces one count each of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, domestic assault by strangulation and fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
He was released from custody in lieu of $25,000 conditional bond.
The investigation began May 20 with a written statement from the victim, who said Olson had choked her into unconsciousness a few days earlier at a home in Kasson, the criminal complaint says.
She told investigators it began when Olson tried to initiate sexual contact; she declined. Olson reportedly straddled her, pinning her to the bed as she continued to say no.
According to court documents, Olson pulled her clothing off, grabbed the victim’s throat and said he wasn’t going to leave until they had sex; when she again refused, he grabbed her by the throat and she blacked out, the document continues.
After several minutes, the woman said, she gave up; Olson allegedly sexually assaulted her “while maintaining control of her,” the complaint says.
The report says the woman went to a local hospital to have a sexual assault kit completed; it was sent to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Olson was arrested May 22, but declined to provide a statement to Kasson Police.
He did deny the allegations, adding that he and the woman had been intimate previously.
