Dodge Center hires ambulance director

harm this week as Dodge Center City Administrator Lee Mattson informed the council that Jared Oscarson has accepted the city’s offer of employment and plans to start his new position as ambulance director on August 8.
Oscarson was chosen after the city reopened the job search after Brett Rima and the city could not reach an agreement on compensation.
Oscarson is coming to Dodge Center from Humboldt General Hospital in Nevada where he has served as clinical coordinator of the EMS Department.
He has been with Humboldt Hospital since 2012. He is trained as a Paramedic.
The Dodge Center Ambulance Department has been without a director since Dan Stensrud’s resignation earlier this year. Lindsey Derby has been serving as acting director in the interim.
In other action at Monday night’s meeting, the council gave its approval to Maintenance Superintendent Mark Barwald’s request to purchase a 2017 four-wheel drive F250 pickup as a replacement for a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.
Barwald said that the replacement of the truck is in the budget for this year and the cost of the F250 from Midway Ford Commercial, at $25,444,41, is less than the budgeted amount.
Council members also approved a conditional use permit for the expansion of the mini-storage facility at South Street and Second Avenue SW.
Alan Hansel had told the Planning and Zoning Commission he wanted to construct an additional building between the existing buildings and the Crossroads Apartments.
Mattson reported that the limited site investigation of the old Budget Mart property has been completed by Chosen Valley Testing and the city h
