Conservation Corps work on Mantorville Dam

On July 1, a group of young volunteers helped to build environmental awareness in Mantorville.
The Summer Youth Conservation Corps of Minnesota will spend four weeks in Mantorville to help remodel the area around the dam. The first group, who worked for two weeks, laid down concrete pads. The next group, that is working in Mantorville now, will put down picnic table, kiosks and benches.
The mission of the Conservation Corps, provides hands-on environmental stewardship and service-learning opportunities to youth and young adults while accomplishing conservation, natural resource management and emergency response work,” according to the Conservation Corps’ website.
The teenagers helping out with this project are not too far from home.
