KoMets end Lourdes’ streak

The Kasson-Mantorville track and field team got its first meet of the season in on a beautiful Friday afternoon hosting Red Wing and Glencoe-Silver Lake. The meet proved to be a great opportunity to set a baseline as the season gets underway.
Standing out for the KoMets was Tyler Wanous, who placed first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.22 seconds. He also finished first in the high jump with a leap of 5’8” which beat Glencoe-Silver Lake’s Shane Erhke by two inches.
Mason Iverson also had a solid opening meet for K-M. After finishing third with a time of 18.95 in the 110 meter hurdles, he did even better with a longer distance with a second-place time of 45.72 seconds in the 300 meter hurdles. He also stood out in the long jump with a distance of 17’6.5”.
Both Wanous and Iverson showed extra teamwork to boot as they helped the KoMets win the 4x400 meter relay along with Cole Marshall and Brennan Gustafson. Their time of 3:42.48 was nearly three seconds less than Glencoe-Silver Lake (3:45.19) to take home the victory in the event.
