Shooting from the hip

The world seems to get smaller as I get older.
Last week, while talking to Kat Perkins from “The Voice,” we discovered a mutual friend. My buddy, Dan Linford, who was the principal at the high school my sons attended in Utah, has a son who did quite well on “The Voice.” Tanner is his name and when I played the “Do you know?” game after meeting Perkins, it turned out they knew one another.
“Oh, I love Tanner!” Perkins told me. “They asked me a lot of questions.”
Upon relating this conversation to Dan, his response was similar.
“We love Kat!” Dan said.
I was not surprised by either response. I’ve known the Linford family for many years and suffice to say they are great. Perkins certainly knew this family.
I met Perkins last week as she prepared for her first of two performances at the KM schools. A pretty young lady with her personal tattoos, Perkins, I found out, is as genuine and kind as she is a great performer. 
Kat Perkins has not a drip of arrogance or conceit. Kat’s sincere message of discovering what you want to do with your life, and then chasing it down, being fearless and being kind along your path is wonderful.
