Dodge Center begins search for new ambulance director

Dodge Center officials are beginning the search for a new ambulance director following the resignation of Dan Stensrud from the position.
Stensrud’s resignation was officially accepted by the council last week and his last day on the job was Feb. 19.
During the search for a new director the council appointed Emergency Medical Technician Lindsey Derby as the acting director.
Stensrud had served as director of the ambulance service for 24 years.
The Dodge Center Ambulance Service provides service to Dodge Center, Kasson, Mantorville and Claremont. The main base is in Dodge Center with an additional ambulance at the substation in Kasson.
Also at last week’s meeting the council approved closing on the purchase of 12 lots in the Greystone Subdivision. City Administrator Lee Mattson said that United Prairie Bank had accepted the city’s offer to purchase the lots for $66,000.
Councilmembers also revisited complaints from residents that guinea fowl that had escaped from property at McNeilus Auto were being a nuisance at their residences. The city, Mattson said, had received a complaint from a resident that the birds were pecking on windows.
Mayor Bill Ketchum said that McNeilus staff had been notified and had tried to catch the birds but had been unsuccessful.
Council decided to give McNeilus two weeks to catch the birds and resolve the situation or the city would take action and charge costs back to Dennis McNeilus.
