Kasson family chosen for new Habitat for Humanity home

For Cassie Van Every, getting out of the hospital cannot come soon enough, not only because she is missing her family, but also because her family will be one step closer to moving into a brand new, bigger home. 
Cassie and her husband Jason have rented for eight years. Currently, they are renting a three bedroom and one bath home in Kasson, but that is not quite enough space for their five, soon to be six, children. 
“It is a dream come true. It is kind of surreal still,” Cassie said of her family being selected for the home. “When they found out I wasn’t there, but I was on the phone when they were told and I cried.”
Cassie was not able to be there because she is currently on bed rest with her baby boy at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. Cassie went to the hospital on Feb. 3 for slight bleeding and was sent home on Feb. 5. 
After sleeping all day, she and Jason were looking forward to having a date night at Texas Roadhouse. However, as they were on their way out the door, Cassie started hemorrhaging badly and was taken by ambulance back to Methodist. 
She is expected to stay in the hospital until she is 37 weeks pregnant. Her estimated due date is April 20. “April can’t come soon enough,” Cassie said. Cassie may have Placenta previa and Placenta accrete. This means that Cassie will have to have a C-section and will most likely have to have a hysterectomy. 
Despite the unfortunate circumstances, the family is incredibly excited for the opportunity to own their own home. 
“The foundation of owning a home and setting a future for our kids. We won’t have to worry about having to find a new place if our landlord wants us to move, if something breaks we don’t have to wait to get it fixed, and if we want to paint the kids’ rooms a different color, we can,” she said. 
The new home, which will be located in Kasson, will be a five bedroom two bath. That is what the Van Every children called “an upgrade.” Cassie and Jason met eight years ago.
