Caucuses set for March 1

Political caucuses for people from across the State of Minnesota, both   Democrats and Republicans, are scheduled for Tuesday, March 1.
These meetings are the first step in the long process of electing a  new president and other elected officials.
The Democrats in Dodge Center will meet at 7 p.m. in the Triton High  School Media Center at 813 W. Highway Street.
Residents of the following places will meet there: Ashland Township,  City of Claremont, Claremont Township, Dodge Center (precinct 1),  Dodge Center-precinct 2), Ripley Township, and Wasioja Township.
The Hayfield High School Cafeteria at 9 Sixth Ave. SE will be the   meeting place for the following: City of Hayfield, Hayfield Township, Vernon Township, Westfield Township and Byron (precinct 2).
The West Concord Historical Museum Flame Room at 600 1st St. in West  Concord will be the meeting place for the City of West Concord, Concord Township, Ellington Township and Milton Township.
The Kasson-Mantorville Community Ed Great Room at 606 16th Street NE  in Kasson will be the meeting place for Canisteo Township, Kasson   (precinct 1). Kasson- (precinct 2), Kasson- (precinct 3), City of  Mantorville and Mantorville Township.
The people will discuss a variety of issues, including voting  eligibility requirements, affirmative action and the platform  statement. They will elect a caucus chair, adopt rules, and elect a  precinct chair and vice chair.
They will vote on a presidential preference ballot, and consider  resolutions that will be discussed at the county convention.
Those who only want to cast a ballot may do so and then leave.
Republicans will meet in the Triton High School cafeteria at 813 W.  Highway Street at 7 p.m. on March 1.
Residents of the following places will enter the east side of the  school:  Ashland Township, City of Claremont, Claremont Township, Dodge  Center (precinct 1), Dodge Center (precinct 2), Ripley Township and  Wasioja Township.
The Hayfield Township Hall will be the meeting place for the  following: City of Hayfield, Hayfield Township, Vernon Township,  Westfield Township and Byron (precinct 2).
