K-M/Triton continues to raise its own bar

 
Over the past couple of weeks the Kasson-Mantorville/Triton gymnastics team has made strides that haven’t been seen in its three-year history of the program. 
After winning its conference meet against Stewartville last week and having the junior varsity team take home its first trophy with a second-place finish at the Woodbury Invitational, K-M/Triton looked to continue its momentum as the team had meets with Caledonia/Spring Grove/Houston on Tuesday and Byron on Thursday.
While hosting Caledonia, K-M/T was able to put together another solid performance with a team score of 118.425. Halie Abbott won the vault event with a score of 8.6 and Cambryn Rubin won the uneven bars (8.375) and the floor routine (8.975) on the way to winning the all-around competition with a score of 32.925.
Despite the solid effort from the entire team, K-M/T couldn’t pick up the victory as it lost by two-tenths of a point after Caledonia/Spring Grove/Houston scored a 118.625.
“It was a tough loss for us,” K-M/T Gymnastics Coach Laura Strandell said. “The girls had their best score of the season tonight, but it wasn’t enough. The coaches, families and gymnasts are still proud of the improvement they showed despite the score.”
