Holmes launches bid for House 24A

After falling short in her bid to become the state representative from House District 24A last year, Heather Holmes will once again run for the seat. 
She announced her bid during a campaign kick-off event in Dodge County last week.
Last year, Holmes won the DFL endorsement and took on longtime incumbent Duane Quam, a Republican from Byron.
“Our communities deserve a representative who listens, shows respect, and fights for real solutions — not headlines,” Holmes said. “My opponent has wasted time on culture wars and legislation that does nothing for working families — from trying to give absentee landowners a vote to shouting down colleagues in committee. I will keep the focus where it belongs: on the families, farmers, and small businesses who call 24A home. Change happens at the speed of trust, and I’m ready to rebuild that trust, one conversation at a time.”
Holmes was elected to the Byron School Board in 2022 and served through 2024. 
During the 2024 election, Quam received 63.4% of the vote.
Asked if he plans to run for re-election, he said, “I’m planning to at this point, but the decision will be next spring.”
House District 24A encompasses all of Dodge County, Byron and other parts of western Olmsted County.
