Well wishes for a speedy recovery for our dedicated editor

I was pleasantly surprised when I looked at my email last Tuesday, while putting together the paper, to find an email from Karen Jorgenson, editor of the DCI.
Earlier that day, she had gone in for heart surgery to replace her aortic valve.
Jorgensen, a newspaper person for over five decades, couldn’t stay away long from the action, and was keeping an eye on the proofs of the pages, and seeing what she may have missed while she was on the surgery table for the morning.
Surprised to have gotten an email from her, I asked if she was able to have the surgery, thinking maybe something had happened, which delayed the surgery.
Nope, she had just gotten back to her room, and was able to pull up her iPad.
I was relieved to see she had been doing well.
While sending out an email to the rest of our staff the other day, I realized that Jorgensen is actually the longest tenure full-time employee under the current leadership of the DCI, and her dedication to covering Dodge County shows, including the other day’s surprise post operation email.
Please join me in wishing Jorgensen a speedy recovery, as we look forward to see her byline in the paper again soon.
