It’s county fair time in Minnesota

June has arrived and in Minnesota, that means county fairs, all leading up to the Great Minnesota Get-Together at the State Fair.
And that, of course, includes our own Dodge County Free Fair. This year’s fair is scheduled from Wednesday, July 16, through Sunday, July 20. Even though there is just over a month until the fair opens there is plenty of activity going on at the fairgrounds in preparation.
To help our readers know what will be happening during the fair, the DCI is expanding its pre-fair coverage. Starting this week, we will be featuring a Dodge County Fair page in each edition providing information on what is coming up, what’s old, what’s new and maybe some insights into behind the work behind the scenes you did not know about.
There will be columns from Fair Board members and stories from DCI writers on activities.
For anyone interested in exhibiting in entering in one of the fair divisions, the 2025 Premium Book is available online at dodgecountyfreefair.com. There you will find information on all the departments, how to enter your project, department superintendents, fair officials and general information.
The fair is put on by the Dodge County Agricultural and Mechanical Society. Society members come from throughout the county. The Dodge County Fair Board of Directors include representatives from each of the county townships and six cities.
There is a lot going on in Dodge and surrounding counties in the next couple of months. And we would all like to stop in at each and every one of them.
But for Dodge County residents the Dodge County Fair is the place to see what local projects 4-H and FFA students have been involved in during the past year. Animals are always a popular attraction and as usual, there will be plenty of them at the fair.
Grandstand shows, competitions, free stage entertainment, children’s activities, vendors and of course the carnival will all be there.
Check out the information on our upcoming Dodge County Fair pages and we will see you at the fair.
