Our Cozy Corner donates $15K to Rochester family

Our Cozy Corner, a live sales business based in Byron, donated $15,000 to a Rochester family in need on May 14.  Jen and Jefferson Webster were nominated by their friend, Shurie Madery, after the family went through many hardships over the past several years. Jen was pregnant with twins when she found out one didn’t have a heartbeat and the other would have down syndrome and severe heart defects. Being a cardiac nurse for 15 years, Jen knew the struggle ahead. Their son, named J2, passed away in their arms at the hospital.

Funds will be used for the family’s vehicle repairs, repairing a junction box that was damaged in a flood, and catching up on bills.
The Webster’s only have one operating vehicle and need help getting the suspension of their second vehicle fixed. With a family of eight, a single vehicle is not practical for them. They also have desires to repair their family van they purchased for their son J2. The repairs would allow that van to be a tribute to their son they lost and will be utilized in charitable endeavors in the future.
The family home had a basement flood that ruined their junction box. Their insurance is going to cover the repairs, but they needed help covering the $2,000 deductible.
Both Jen and her husband spent extensive time out of work to care for their son J2, and they need help with bills and making repairs to their home.
Our Cozy Corner, owned by Dusty and Laura Barwald, sells fashion, shoes, cosmetics, home goods, seasonal and more, live online on the What Not app and have recently added a physical storefront at 565 High Point Dr. NE in Byron. The business outgrew their previous location in Mantorville and moved into two large warehouses. The faith-based business runs on the What Not app where users can bid on items and is live every day. Employees did challenges while streaming live to raise money, donated by the app’s users.
The company sells products from national retailers like Scheels, Target, and Macy’s. They buy in big lots and then pass the savings to their customers.The Barwald’s have made it a mission to utilize their online following to impact their community.  For that reason, they launched the Cozy Community Fund.  Community members can nominate families in need at https://www.ourcozycorner.com/outreach.
