Triton senior celebrates education career choice

Future Family and Consumer science teacher Macy Klejeski celebrated her career choice last week at Educator Signing Day on May 6 at the Triton High School PAC. She will be studying family and consumer science education at Minnesota State University Mankato. 
Triton Superintendent Craig Schlichting started the ceremony off. He spoke about advice he received from veteran educators when he first decided to go into education.
He also said he got a message from a student he had over 30 years ago who remembered something he said to them. The former student told him that remark helped them through life’s trials and tribulations. 
“It takes time for those things to happen,” said Schlichting.
Klejeski spoke about her path to choosing education as a major, saying in her younger years she would not have chosen this career. “I was not a fan of waking up early in the morning…” 
Her decision to pursue education was based on enjoying being able to understand a subject and explaining it to others. 
Going into high school she had several interests including fashion, baking, and health sciences.  Klejeski decided a good way to combine her interests was family and consumer science.   
Intro to Education Careers teacher Alli Horejsi noted it’s been a year since Triton hosted their first educator signing day and Klejeski’s celebration was fitting since it was during teacher appreciation week. “She demonstrates tremendous grit and determination. True teacher qualities,” said Horejsi.
