Triton picks next principal

The Triton School Board has selected its next Middle/ High School principal.
“The Triton School District is pleased to announce that Tanisha Topinka has been selected as the next Principal of Triton Middle and High School,” a press release from the district read. “She will be joining the Triton Team beginning July 1, 2025.
Topinka will be replacing Luke Lutterman, who is taking over for retiring superintendent Craig Schlichting.
Topinka currently serves as a dean of students at Mountain Lake Schools, in South Central Minnesota.
Prior to that she worked as an English teacher at Kindred High School in Kindred, N. D.
“Throughout the interview process, it was clear that Ms.Topinka has the energy, skills, and collaborative philosophy that align with the Triton School District’s values, aims, and goals,” the release read.
Hecimovich Returningto Hayfield
Another area school has made its decision on principal, with Hayfield sticking with Jim Hecimovich staying on as Acting High School Principal.
Hecimovich joined Hayfield at the end of 2023, following the arrest of principal Grant Klennert.
As part of his contract, he will be paid $430 per day for every day worked, and his contract will be for 220 working days.
“Jim has been an invaluable resource for us coming out of retirement and helping us make the transition to hopefully a full-time person in the near future,” Hayfield Superintendent Gregg Slaathaug wrote.
Kasson-Mantorville is currently in the process of hiring its next elementary school principal, following Courtney Frie being hired as the next Dover-Eyota superintendent beginning July 1.
