Feedlot controversy flares up again

A group fighting to protect the area’s ground water has launched another attack in its continued battle against feedlots in Dodge County. 
On Monday the Dodge County Concerned Citizens filed an objection with the county’s planning commission to block a proposed swine feedlot in Hayfield Township. Hog producer Jason Masching is seeking to build a feedlot that would house 3,300 pigs. 
“This single factory farm will produce manure equivalent to a city of nearly 10,000 people,” said Douglas Eayrs of DCCC. “It’s time to put people first, not pigs.”
In a five page letter directed to the planning commission, DCCC said “enough is enough,” pointing out that the county is already saturated with 234 feedlots. The group claims the county has never denied a feedlot permit.
