Krekling surpasses 200 career wins
The Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy girls basketball team defeated Blooming Prairie and Rushford-Peterson last week.
In its 59-55 win over Rushford-Peterson, Maggie Hansen had 11 points, Jenna Christopherson had eight points, Avi Alexander had seven points, Gabby Buehler had two points, Betsy Gillette nine points, Lily Morrisey had 12 points, and Frieda Rutz had 10 points.
With the win Head Coach Kasey Krekling picked up his 200 win.
“This was a hard fought road win and the girls played really well from start to finish to earn this one. It was nice to see us execute down the stretch and make clutch free throws,” Krekling said after the game.
In the 54-39 win over Blooming Prairie Hansen had eight points, Christopherson had 13 points, Alexander had two points, Buehler had three points, Gillette had 13 points, Morrisey had nine points, and Rutz had six points.
“We played good defense for a majority of the game tonight, but lost focus for a little bit in the second half and BP made us pay with a good run to close the game. It was nice to see the girls refocus and make a good run to end the game,” Krekling said.
The Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy Lady Vikes clinched the eight seed in the Section 1AA tournament and will host Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Thursday at 7 p.m.
