Crash involves paper delivery truck

A crash Nov. 6 left a woman critically injured and disrupted the delivery of some newspapers for one area publication.
According to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 12:23 p.m., deputies and the Minnesota State Patrol responded to an injury crash near County Road 3 and 14th Street NW in Kalmar Township near Byron.
Stephanie Gill was delivering newspapers for the House of Print of Madelia when she crashed into another vehicle. She had dropped the newspapers for Steele County Times earlier that morning before heading to Rochester to deliver the Dodge County Independent, which is a sister publication to the Times.
The Sheriff’s Office reported two adult men were in a vehicle traveling north and were slowing down to make a turn when they were rear-ended by the truck operated by Gill.
Gill was trapped inside her vehicle for about 35 minutes and was extricated by the Byron Fire Department before being flown to a Rochester hospital. She suffered multiple injuries and is expected to have a long recovery at St. Marys Hospital.
The other occupants were not injured.
Because of the crash, the delivery of the DCI for some readers was delayed for at least a day, according to Publisher Rick Bussler.
“Stephanie has always been a reliable driver for the House of Print, and we are saddened that she was seriously injured,” Bussler said, adding he hopes she can make a full recovery.
