Kasson’s Oktoberfest to draw hundreds on Sept. 28

The third annual Oktoberfest in Kasson is Sept. 28, with hundreds expected to attend.
Kicking things off is the Wurst Dog Derby at 1 p.m. at the Zumbro Valley Golf Course.
At 1:30 p.m., on Main Street, there’s a host of events, including new features, such as craft vendors, llama obstacle course, parachuting hot dogs, celebrity dachshunds book signing, tire flipping, potato sack races, vendor market, bingo, bigfoot, live KOWZ feed and a pub crawl. Pub crawl participants will hit the Bunker Bar at the golf course, Hidden Pines, the Hubbell House, Tammy’s Place, the American Legion and Saker’s Sports Bar & Grill.
Also, at 1:30 on Main Street are Rookie the clown, food and drinks, a scavenger hunt, the Brass Quartet Band, German chocolate cake, fortune cookies, treat bags, root beer floats, pretzel necklaces craft, hot potato game and face painting.
At 4 p.m. there will be a Fun Run and following that, a sauerkraut eating contest at 5 p.m.
Kasson’s Oktoberfest is put on by the Kasson Chamber of Commerce and area businesses. It is free to attend, though food and drinks will be sold.
Parents in need of babysitters are in luck, as the competitive dance team from The Studio is offering free babysitting from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Studio is hosting the babysitting at their business.
People are encouraged to attend Kasson’s Oktoberfest “as a way to support the Kasson business community and for a good family fun event,” said organizer Jennifer Galloway.
