Lutterman agrees to three-year deal with Triton

While he won’t be starting until July 1, 2025, the Triton School Board approved a three-year contract with its next superintendent Luke Lutterman, on Aug. 19.
The hiring of Lutterman came a couple months after current Superintendent Craig Schlichting announced his intentions of retiring at the end of the school year.
“On May 1, four separate committees interviewed Luke Lutterman for the position of Superintendent,” School Board President Wendy Kenworthy wrote in a press release. “We had a diverse group of stakeholders involved, including administration, directors, staff, school board members, community members, and support groups. Following the individual committee interviews, the board met to discuss feedback. Given the feedback provided, I am happy to report that the school board voted unanimously to enter into negotiations with Luke Lutterman for the position of Superintendent.”
Lutterman, a graduate, and longtime principal of Triton, will earn $145,000 a year in year one of his contract, $148,000 in year two, and $151,000 in year three.
Schlichting’s salary for the 2024-2025 year is $155,231.
“I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the Triton School District and the communities of Claremont, Dodge Center, and West Concord,” Lutterman wrote in an email immediately following the vote by the School Board. “I am looking forward to continuing to work with the talented and dedicated Triton staff, Board of Education, students, and community.”
Lutterman told the DCI previously, that for now his top priority is to continue serving as principal.
“My number one job is to be a principal,” he said. “I’m gonna do that to the best of my abilities every day. But if there are conversations going on about the future, I would assume that I would be more involved in those conversations than I would normally be.”
