New Kasson City Administrator agrees to contract terms

Theresa Coleman officially became the administrator for the City of Kasson last week as the City Council unanimously approved her employment contract.
Under the terms of the contract she officially began her duties on Nov. 2 with a base salary of $95,888.
The contract was approved with the only discussion a question about why the contract did not have specific information as to how she would be compensated for use of her vehicle for city duties. The reasoning, council members were told, was that since it is not known how much she will need to use her vehicle it made sense to monitor the use over the next several months and then determine if a reimbursement or a specific amount is reasonable.
“I think it’s a great contract,” Mayor Steve Johnson said.
Coleman was chosen as administrator earlier this month from an initial field of four candidates. The other applicants included Robert Midtovne, Kasson Community Development Director Mike Martin and Dean Zuleger. Interviews narrowed the final field to Coleman and Martin who then met with the city council earlier in October.
Coleman had been serving as the city clerk in Lewiston and also providing administrative services for the city on a contract basis and serving on the Lewistown Public Utilities Commission.
