Feeding People. Changing Lives

“Feeding People. Changing Lives.” That is exactly what the Kasson-Mantorville School District hopes to do for the sixth annual Student Food Drive, sponsored by the Channel One Regional Food Bank. 
The mission of the drive is “to unite and empower area high school students in the commitment to feed the hungry and to promote volunteerism.” 
FCCLA is teaming up with all three schools in the district to collect as many donations of canned and boxed foods as it can between Oct. 20 and Nov. 13. Monetary donations will also be accepted; a donation of $1 is the equivalent of one pound of food. 
“I think it is good for us to get out into the community. This gets the whole school involved; it is not just the students in our club that are giving back it is the whole district,” said senior FCCLA member Stephanie Meyer. 
Senior FCCLA member Mackenzie Shay added, “It is an important thing to show the students and gets them involved in giving back to the community.” 
During the drive, K-M students will try their best to collect more than the other 13 school districts in southeast Minnesota and try to meet their district collection goals, as well as the individual building goals.
