Volleyball prepares for section tournament

The Kasson-Mantorville volleyball team will open the Section 1A tournament when they host Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Thursday night. The KoMets were able to have one final tune up for last Thursday when they were able to sweep Triton in front of a home crowd.
The KoMets made sure to make short work of Triton by roaring to a 25-14 victory in the first set. While the Cobras were able to make several rallies, K-M seemed to have an answer for everything and took a two game lead with a 25-8 win in the second game.
Triton would put forth a solid effort in the third game, but there was too deep of a hole and the KoMets were able to finish off the Cobras with a 25-21 clincher. Lilly Braun helped lead the effort for K-M with 31 assists and three aces and Peyton Suess (ten kills) and Sam McMillin (nine kills) helped the KoMets leave nothing behind in their HVL finale.
The KoMets finish the regular season with a 20-10 overall record and an 8-3 record in the HVL that was good for fourth-place. However, K-M’s goal at the beginning of the year was to get to the state tournament. That process begins on Thursday when the second-seeded KoMets host the Cougars.
