Norma Jean Graves, 79, Kasson

Norma Jean Graves, age 79, of Kasson, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Norma Jean Fletcher was born Jan. 18, 1944, in Hibbing, the daughter of Maynard and Dorothy Fletcher.
She attended Moorhead State College and graduated with a teaching degree in 1967. Her first teaching position was in Perham. Norma taught at several elementary schools for over 32 years. She loved all her students and kept in touch with many. She taught multiple generations of children from the same families, but knew it was time to retire when she was calling the child their parents’ names. Norma retired from teaching in 1999.
Norma met and fell in love with Gene Graves, from Jackson, and was united in marriage on July 19, 1969. They shared over 54 years of marriage. In 1970 they moved to Blooming Prairie where their son Corey was born. In 1979 they moved to Kasson where she and Gene have called home for 44 years. They also have a home in Estero, Florida.
Throughout the years, Norma maintained a lot of close friendships. She loved playing golf, traveling in their RV, doing crosswords, and playing Mexican Train with her friends. Norma was a huge Minnesota sports fan, whether it be the Golden Gophers, Twins, or Vikings, you would always find her glued to the TV on game days.
Norma is proceeded in death by her parents Maynard and Dorothy Fletcher, sister Linda Greico, and father and mother-in-law Joseph and Viola Graves. Norma is survived by her husband, Gene Graves, her son, Corey, and daughter-in-law Angella Graves. She is further survived by grandchildren, Trent Graves, Brea Graves, Hunter Deleon, and Kaitlyn Deleon, along with nephews Zachary and Fletcher Schwartz.
