KoMets win in Decorah, head to Christmas tournament

The Kasson-Mantorville KoMets made quick work of their team duals down in Decorah, IA last Thursday night where they competed in a triangular against Decorah and New Hampton, Iowa.
Taking advantage of Iowa’s 14 weight line-up, the KoMets were able to sprinkle 16 different varsity wrestlers between the two match ups.
The KoMets opened up the night against New Hampton, winning 65-3. They then shut out Decorah, 69-0.
Junior, Jacob Duitsman (215) upset #2 ranked Braden McShane from New Hampton, IA with a pin fall (5:49).
The varsity line-up is still work in progress as Coach Ryan Hill now has to tighten it up to Minnesota’s new 13 weights.
The KoMets will head to the annual Minnesota Christmas tournament, hosted by the Minnesota Gopher’s wrestling team, this weekend, Friday and Saturday, at the Mayo Civic Center.
Session 1: Friday 12 p.m.
Session 2: Friday 5:30 p.m. wrestle up to quarterfinals
Session 3: Saturday 10 a.m.
Session 4: 6 1st, 3rd, 5th place matches.
The KoMets will host Lake City on Thursday 12/21 at the Home Federal Arena and then head to Chatfield for a state ranked match up on Friday 12/22.
