News Update: Former Steele Commissioners stage a comeback

Two former Steele County commissioners who lost their spots on the county board in the 2016 election are staging a comeback in this year’s election.
On Tuesday, James “Corky” Ebeling and Mark Schultz filed to get their old seats back on the Steele County Board. They will go up against the two incumbents that beat them in 2016—Jim Abbe and Rick Gnemi. 
In 2016, a third commissioner, Nina Huntington, lost her seat on the board. However, she did not file for re-election and her opponent, Greg Krueger, will run unopposed in this year’s election.
The 2016 District 3 race between Schultz and Gnemi was fairly close. It was a different story, however, in the District 4 contest as Abbe defeated Ebeling by a landslide, 70-30%. 
Filing for offices closed on Tuesday.
