Motorcycle, SUV crash sends Kasson man to hospital

A Kasson man was transported to Saint Marys Hospital Monday night with life-threatening injuries following a crash on Highway 14 between Kasson and Byron. The accident occurred at about 8:20 p.m.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2023 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Heather Ann Appel, 49, Byron, and a 2024 Yamaha Sport Bike driven by Jesse George Sweeter, 29, Kasson, were both westbound on HWY 14 when they collided at 270th Street.
Sweeter suffered life-threatening injuries; Appel was uninjured.
It was unknown if Sweeter was wearing a helmet, according to the State Patrol report.
In addition to the State Patrol, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Dodge Center Ambulance, Kasson Fire and Rescue, Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service and Mayo One responded to the scene.
