A Message to Our Community: Thank You for Supporting Byron Schools
I want to share my gratitude with our community for your support in the November 4 referendum. Voters approved both questions on the ballot — the operating levy and the capital projects technology levy — and that decision will make a meaningful difference for our students, teachers, and classrooms.
The unofficial results show both measures passed! Your engagement in learning about the District and its position is meaningful. Every vote counted, and every voice mattered.
These approvals allow us to move forward with the theme that guided this process from the beginning: Our Students. Our Teachers. Our Classrooms. The operating levy will help sustain learning interventions, preserve elective and extracurricular programs, and maintain manageable class sizes. The technology levy will strengthen cybersecurity, update classroom technology, and improve school safety. Together, they also help stabilize our district’s finances and create a stronger foundation for the years ahead.
I know not everyone voted yes, and I want to acknowledge that. Our School Board Chair, Jeremy Aagard, said it best: while opinions may differ, there is still common ground in supporting the needs of our children. That common ground is where we’ll continue to build.
As a new superintendent, I’m looking ahead to what comes next. Over the coming months, we’ll begin a process to refresh our district’s strategic plan. This will include opportunities for parents, staff, and community members to help shape our shared vision for the future of Byron Public Schools.
Byron is a remarkable place — a district defined by strong academics, outstanding activities, and a deep sense of community pride. With this referendum behind us, we can now focus on the future and continue building on what makes Byron Public Schools so special.
Thank you for your support, your engagement, and your belief in our schools. Together, we are preparing every student for what’s next.
