Mary Alice Mittelstadt Unger, 76, Rochester

Mary Alice Mittelstadt Unger, 76, passed away Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 at Cottagewood Sr. Living in Rochester, Minn.  
Mary was born in Owatonna, Minn., April 2, 1940 to Carl and Minnie (Doering) Mittelstadt. The family later moved to a farm in Cherry Grove Township in Goodhue County. She graduated from West Concord High School. The family moved to Mantorville where Mary worked at the Hubbell House as a hostess.  She then went on to work at Mayo Clinic – Rochester until she retired.
Mary was married to Donald Unger of Kasson, Minn., but later divorced. Mary enjoyed dancing, fishing and visiting with friends and family. She is survived by four of her siblings; Paul (LuAnn) Mittelstadt of Spring Valley, Minn., Ellen Mittelstadt of Zumbrota, Minn., Joseph (Mary Ann) Mittelstadt of Kasson and Myrna Barth of Pine Island, Minn. She is also survived by numerous nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews and their families. Her brother, David, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 301 8th Ave NW in Kasson with Pastor Nirmala Reinschmidt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to Oxbow Park Nature Center.
