Martha Lavaine Beaver, 97, Hayfield
Martha Lavaine Beaver, 97, of Hayfield MN passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Mayo Clinic St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, with family by her side.
Martha was born on October 2, 1926, in Vernon Township to Richard and Ethel (Grovdahl) Thoe. She graduated from Hayfield High School in 1944. She married Oscar Wallace Beaver on December 14, 1944. Martha was a devoted wife to Wallace, working side by side on the family farm for 47 years.
Martha loved sewing and has made many projects throughout the years. She was always there to lend a helping hand to family which included painting, wallpapering, making and hanging curtains always exceeding everyone’s expectations. She loved spending time with family, celebrating and hosting many milestone and holiday gatherings. She enjoyed making lefse and mocha cakes and passing down this tradition to younger generations. She was an exceptional cook and if you ever visited her, you did not go home hungry. She looked forward to spending her winters in Arizona with her sisters, making this trip for over 20 years. She was a lifelong volunteer and member of West St. Olaf Church in Hayfield. Martha was a joy to be around and will be remembered as a fun lady.
Martha is survived by her siblings, Loretta Himle, David Thoe (Jean) and Constance Schnirring, all of Hayfield; nieces and nephews, Lowell (Betsy), Cindy (Kurt), Denise (Jim), Sheryl (Ken), Lynette (Bill), Jeffrey (Susie), Deanna (Jon), Kari (Jeff), Paula (Dave), Randy (Denise), Bryan (Rox Anne), and Sara (Steve); many great and great-great nieces and nephews and longtime companion, Don Kramer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ethel (Grovdahl) Thoe; husband, Wallace Beaver; brother, Robert Thoe; infant brother, Arthur Thoe; brothers-in-law, Loren Himle and Walter Schnirring; sister-in-law, Murna Thoe; nephew, Rodney Himle and niece, Doreen Thoe Demmer
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, October 9 at West St Olaf Lutheran Church, 70640 260th Ave, Hayfield, MN with Pastor Paul Thompson officiating. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 pm Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 501 2nd St NW in Hayfield, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in West St Olaf Lutheran Cemetery in Hayfield, MN.
