Local partnership hopes to bring Little Lending Libraries to Dodge County

By the end of this summer, Dodge County residents may not only have more places to go to find a good book to read, but may also be able to meet some more of their neighbors.
The Dodge Center Library, the Mantorville Art Guild and a Triton shop class hope to team up to create 10 Little Lending Libraries that will be placed throughout the county. 
Dodge Center Library Director Ingvild Herfindahl is currently in the process of applying for a grant through Southeastern Libraries Cooperating (SELCO) that would help fund the project. 
Herfindahl got the idea after seeing the lending libraries in different towns that she has traveled to. 
“Our library is always looking for ways to reach out to the communities like Claremont and Wasioja that don’t have a public library, and where it is more difficult for them to get here, so it seemed like a perfect fit,” she said. 
If the grant is received, Herfindahl said, the plan is to have the libraries set up this summer, with all of them being up and running by this fall.
