Life-saving efforts by many

Paul Dale is lucky to be alive. And he wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for the efforts of his wife, Laura and the emergency responders in Blooming Prairie.
I can relate to Paul in a couple of ways. First, I have no memory of what happened back in January for at least 20 minutes when I ended up with a major concussion. To this day, I can’t remember anything of what happened. Paul can’t remember a lot of what happened in a 2 ½ day period. And as he was told it is best to let the brain decide what to remember and not to remember.
The second thing is that both of us wouldn’t be where we are today without the help of the emergency responders in Blooming Prairie. I still remember vividly the EMTs and Police Chief Greg Skillestad being on hand when I took a spill. They were again on the scene at Paul’s emergency.
Granted the police department is a paid organization, but many times Greg and other police department members have stopped me in the community asking how I’m doing. Sometimes they go above and beyond the call of what they are paid for.
As for the ambulance crews, there just isn’t enough you can say about them. They are volunteers! They drop their jobs and rush to the aid of the many people who need their assistance any time of the day.
We are fortunate to have such dedicated people who you will see in other places outside of the emergency realm. They are business owners, they work at the many businesses in the community and they can be seen in many of the activities that Blooming Prairie offers throughout the year.
As I’m confident Paul will say, we both are thankful for the job that these emergency responders provide this community. Thank you!
