Legion Auxiliary recognizes long-time members

Members of the Kasson American Legion Auxiliary last Saturday honored 14 members who have been involved with the organization for more than 50 years. 
Five of those members attended the celebratory lunch and received certificates for their years in the Auxiliary. The group was joined by American Legion Post Commander Paul Reese.
Members attending the lunch were Rosalie Trom, Vera Schuck, Arlys Cranston, Kay Hodge and Helen Leqve.
The complete list of 50-year members, and the year they joined the organization, includes:
Donna Behrns, 1950; Kristin Bennerotte, 1970; Gail Berge, 1964; Arlys Cranston, 1974; Betty Jean Dutton, 1973; Charlotte Edgar,1973; Laura Gilbertson, 1972; Kay Hodge, 1971; Helen Leqve, 1963; Betty Machacek, 1976; Janet Rosen, 1973; Vera Schuck, 1972; Rosalie Trom, 1976; and Karen Vincent, 1975.
Most of the long-time members have served as officers of the Auxiliary over the years. Trom added that last year, she served as the First District vice president. 
“It’s a very worthwhile organization,” she said.
This is the first time the group has officially recognized members who have served 50 years.
The Auxiliary also has a junior group for girls from birth to age 18. There are currently eight junior members. The Legion has a similar organization, Sons of the Legion, for boys.
