Krissy Peterson named Hayfield’s Citizen of the Year
Krissy Peterson was announced as Hayfield’s Citizen of the Year Friday night during the annual chamber dinner at Oaks Country Club.
Kathy Anderson nominated Peterson for the honor because of her work organizing a sharing tree to make sure all the residents at Field Crest Care Center had a Christmas gift.
“I love doing Santa for Seniors,” Peterson said in accepting the award. “It’s not about me, it’s the town.”
She said she started the sharing tree 10 years ago.
“I just wanted them to get a gift,” she said.
The trees are set up at Uncle Mony’s, the Village Pub, and the Hayfield American Legion the Saturday before Thanksgiving. People take a tag off the tree and purchase a gift for a Field Crest resident.
“All gifts go to the Field Crest Care Center,” she said.
Peterson said she has worked at Uncle Mony’s for 25 years and been a Hayfield resident for 18.
As far as volunteering and helping others, she does “whatever I’m asked to do.”
In another piece of business at Friday night’s meeting, the Chamber announced sales of $2,465,000 from pull tabs and e-tabs in 2025. Among the projects receiving funds were After Prom, Hayfield Baseball, 203 Foundation, Trinity Lutheran Church, the Hayfield schools, Salvation Army and Cancer Auction.
