KoMets vs. Cancer effort tops $18K

The annual KoMets vs. Cancer campaign had raised $18,605 as of Tuesday, event coordinator Michele Lindquist said.
This year’s goal was to raise $15,000. Just more than $20,000 was raised during the 2017 event. 
The boys basketball, dance team, Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), girls basketball, powerlifting, Wildcat girls hockey, HOSA Future Health Professionals club and wrestling teams combine each year to help fight cancer, in conjunction with the Dodge County Relay for Life.
“We are just grateful to the K-M community for their continued support of KoMets vs. Cancer,” Lindquist said. “The student leadership has been phenomenal this year. The students have really been creative and innovative in their ideas and worked to include all grade levels and school teams and groups. I am just so proud of the hard work and dedication that all the K-M students have put into this year’s events. It is outstanding to see our students come together for a common cause.”
Fundraising was to continue Friday at a student assembly, during which a teacher’s name is drawn from a bucket for every $200 raised, and the lucky teacher will receive a pie in the face.
K-M Elementary School students are selling tickets for the “best seat in the house” for the school’s spring concert, K-M Middle Schoolers have participated in “Relay for Life” walks during school, and high school students are selling suckers.
