KoMets clinch HVL Dual Championship

A common theme for high school wrestling teams throughout the season is that they want to be at their best heading into the section tournaments in February. As the favorite time of the year for many wrestling fans comes up on the calendar, it’s safe to say that the Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team is starting to get into that mode after clinching the HVL dual championship with victories over Zumbrota-Mazeppa and Cannon Falls last week.
“The biggest part at this time of the year is to be feeling good,” K-M wrestling coach Jamie Heidt said. “We just make sure we’re having fun and we’re out there competing and just to be excited about the postseason. It’s all about making the body and the mind feel good.”
Such a thought could be terrifying for any opponent that stands in the KoMets’ way considering that the defending state champions own a 19-0 record on the season and several wrestlers who will be in the mix for individual championships in the coming weeks. In their final tuneup, it was clear that K-M showed no signs of slowing down.
While only five matches took place in the Cannon Falls dual, three of them ended in pins from Keaten Schorr, Dalton Andrist and Brady Berge. The other two matches were also dominating performances as Bennett Berge earned a technical fall over Cooper Peterson at 106 pounds and Brady Laumb was sharp in a 10-2 decision over
